ROSEBURG – With an 8:00 p.m. opening set, it was a late start last night for the Roseburg Girls volleyball team, but the action ended as an early season win over the Ashland Grizzlies. Roseburg hosted Ashland for the program’s first home game of the 2017 season. It was a balanced performance from what is a very young Indian squad. The Tribe won quickly, winning all three of the first three sets.
As Roseburg won the first set 25-18, and the second set 25-15 it seemed as if the Tribe were in full control to complete a quick sweep. However, Ashland did make the third and final set of the night interesting. The Grizzlies led 23-21 and had all of the momentum, but Roseburg responded with a 4-0 run to take the third set and the game. With the win Roseburg improved to 2-0 on the season. With the loss Ashland fell to 0-1 as it was their first contest of the 2017 season.
Up Next for Roseburg will be their 2017 league opener, as the team is set to host the Sheldon Irish on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. On their home floor. The Irish will be coming off of a 3-0 win over the Thurston Colts.
Roseburg swept Ashalnd 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23).
