EUGENE – The Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps continued their hot run at the American Legion Class A Northwest Regional in Eugene with a big 17-3 win over defending Oregon state champion North Willamette Valley Saturday night.

The ‘Caps took a 4-2 lead in the second inning and rolled on to the mercy rule win in seven innings. Spencer Six led the Roseburg offense, going 4-for-5 with six RBI. The Bottlecaps finished with 20 hits.

Jace Stoffal pitched a complete game for Pepsi and scattered 10 hits by the Huskies. North Willamette Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off Stoffal, but never led again.

Jett Black also had four hits for Roseburg and Caden Johnson finished with three hits.

The win was a measure of revenge for Pepsi, which lost twice against North Willamette Valley twice during the Oregon state tournament last week.

Up next for Pepsi is Post 87 out of Utah. Both teams are undefeated at the tournament. Pepsi has racked up the runs, scoring 36 runs in two games. Post 87 has scored 27 runs combined over its first two victories.

Roseburg and Utah will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday in Eugene at Swede Johnson Stadium.
