MEDFORD – The Roseburg Indians summer softball team hit four home runs and advanced to the championship game of the ASA Western National Championship tournament with a 9-1 win over Clovis (CA) at US Cellular Fields in Medford on Saturday.
Maria Bacigalupo hit two solo home runs and went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the way for Roseburg. Kalie Mann hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to put the Indians up 6-1 and Madysn Blevins followed with a solo shot to put Roseburg in front by six.
Roseburg capped the game off with a pair of runs in the sixth inning that ended the game early thanks to an 8-run mercy rule.
Blevins pitched all six inning for the Indians and allowed just one hit. In her last three starts on the mound, Blevins has allowed just three hits and two runs. In Saturday’s game she struck out six and walked two.
The Roseburg girls advance to Championship Sunday where they will need just one win to become the first Oregon team to win the Western National championship. If the Indians win the title, they will be eligible to participate in a national tournament in Florida later in the month.
Roseburg will play at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Their opponent will be determined after games Saturday evening.
