LAWRENCE, KS – The USATF Hershey Junior National Olympic track and field championships get started Monday in Lawrence, Kansas. A pair of local teens will be competing later this week against some of the best young track and field athletes from around the country.
Camas Valley’s Jazmin Wilberg is registered to compete in the girls 17-18 year old 100-meter hurdles and the long jump on Thursday morning. Mackenzii Phillips, a middle school student from Roseburg, will compete in the girls 13-14 year old javelin on Friday morning.
The meet is being held at Rock Chalk Park, the home of Kansas University track and field.
Roseburg’s Tyler Sconce was qualified for the meet in shot put and discus, but elected to not attend the competition.
