ROSEBURG – The Umpqua Lions American Legion baseball team finished the regular season Thursday night with a split at home against Grants Pass and a third place finish in the Area 4 North standings.

Up next for Umpqua is a trip to the Single-A Legion state tournament next week. The Lions were given the final spot in the tournament field after other teams in the running decided to drop out of the competition.

The Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps are also headed to the state tournament next week and will face South Medford at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Pepsi was the Area 4 North league champions. South Medford finished second in the Area 4 South. The Bottlecaps lost 5-0 in their only previous match-up against South Medford this season.
