FARGO, ND – Roseburg native and Stanford-bound wrestler Haydn Maley will wrestle for the 220-pound Junior Freestyle National Championship on Tuesday in Fargo, North Dakota.
Maley won by fall against Jace Punke, of Illinois, in 44-seconds in the semifinals on Monday to advance to the championship bout. Maley has already earned All-American status and will try to win a national title against Zach Elam of Missouri. The finals start at noon on Tuesday.
One of Maley’s Roseburg High School teammates will also be on the mat Tuesday. Austin Harris reached the 7th place match in the 182-pound bracket. The Oklahoma State-bound wrestler will square off against Victor Marcelli of Ohio. Harris has also earned All-American status as a top 8 placer.
