SPRINGFIELD – The Roseburg Renegades Junior State Baseball team will have a chance to defend its state championship from a year ago after picking up a 7-2 win over North Eugene in the semifinals on Saturday.

The Roseburg offense gave starting pitcher Jace Stoffal more than enough support with four runs in the second inning. Stoffal dominated the North Eugene lineup, allowing just one hit over five shutout innings. He also struck out 11 North Eugene batters.

The Renegades led 6-0 before North Eugene finally got on the board. The Highlanders scored their only two runs off of reliever Grant Berry in the sixth.

Trevor Muir led the Renegades’ offense with two hits and three RBIs. Garrett Zeimet also had two hits and an RBI.

Roseburg will face Dallas in the championship game at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Thurston High School.
