ROSEBURG – The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s stayed in the hunt for an Area 4 playoff spot with a sweep of the visiting Klamath Falls Falcons on Wednesday night at Legion Field.

Klamath Falls jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game one, but the Doc’s rallied back and scored three runs in the fifth for a 6-3 win.

Roseburg’s Luke Lucido struggled with his accuracy in the first inning. He walked two and hit a Klamath Falls batter. All three would later score in the inning to put the Falcons in front. Despite the shaky start, Lucido settled in and only allowed one more hit over his next three innings before getting relieved.

While Lucido held the Klamath Falls bats in check, the Doc’s finally got on the board with a pair of runs second inning. Treven Jacks and Kyler Leischner led off the inning with back-to-back singles and both later came around to score.

The Doc’s tied the game on a wild pitch in the third. Collin Warmouth led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error. He got to third on a flyball out to right field and scored when Falcons starter Wade Schluter got wild on a pitch to Cody Gray.

Roseburg finally took the lead in the fifth. The Stewies scored three times on five straight hits with one out. Treven Jacks, Leischner, and Zack Mandera all picked up RBIs that inning.

Carter Dahl came on in relief of Lucido and picked up the win. Dahl scattered three hits over three inning and allowed just one run, while striking out two.

In the nightcap, Mandera shut down the Klamath Falls offense and struck out 10 batters to lead the Doc’s to a 3-1 victory.

Roseburg broke a 1-1 tie with two unearned runs in the second inning. Neither team managed to score the rest of the game, but Mandera didn’t need more than what the team provided.

Mandera scattered four hits over seven innings and picked up his second complete game victory against the Falcons this season. The one run he allowed was unearned and the 10 strikeouts matched a season-high. Mandera also struck out 10 batters against Klamath Falls back on June 13.

The Doc’s now sit one game out of a playoff spot in the Area 4 standings. The top 4 teams make the post season and the Doc’s are right on the heels of fourth place Willamette Valley. Roseburg could still also move as high as third in the league, depending on the outcome of other games in the final week.

Up next, the Doc’s will take a short break from league games and will play two nine innings games against nonleague opponents. First up is the Corvallis Gerding Builders Marketmen. The Doc’s host Corvallis on Thursday at 6 p.m. Follow the action on CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.
