ROSEBURG – The Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps put on an offensive onslaught against South Coos in an afternoon league doubleheader Monday at Legion Field.
The ‘Caps won 22-3 in the opener. Doran Gillespie went 4-for-4 to lead four Roseburg batters with multiple hits. Garrett Russell, Luke Van Norman, and Brody Black all had two hits in the game. Jace Stoffal picked up the win, allowing just one hit and striking out six.
Pepsi (17-5; 15-3 A4N) pounded South Coos 25-1 in game two. Brody and Jett Black combined to go 4-for-6 with nine RBI for the Bottlecaps.
Roseburg now holds a 4-game lead for first place in the Area 4 North standings. They are only a couple wins away from clinching the league title.
The Bottlecaps had Tuesday’s scheduled nonleague game against North Medford cancelled and will next face the Umpqua Lions on Friday.
