WILSONVILLE, ORE. – The Oregon School Activities Association released its latest draft proposal for the future of the districts and classifications of Oregon’s high schools.

The OSAA District and Classification Committee released draft No. 18 last Thursday, which keeps Oregon’s six-classification structure intact. But in the latest district alignment, the Southwest Conference – which Roseburg High School is a member of – will look significantly different.

The proposal would add three Bend high schools into the conference, increasing the number of schools from seven to 10. Bend, Mountain View, and Summit would all be on Roseburg’s sports schedules starting in the 2018-19 school year if the proposal doesn’t change before the committee puts forth its final recommendation in October.

The district and classification committee will meet in August and September before settling on a final recommendation for the OSAA Executive Board. The meetings are held in Wilsonville at the OSAA offices, but opinions and recommendations can be submitted electronically. Visit osaa.org for more information.
