GRANTS PASS – The Roseburg Doc Stewart’s dropped a pair of league games against the Grants Pass Nuggets on the road Tuesday night. The Nuggets’ hitters abused the Doc’s pitching staff in both games, while Roseburg’s bats struggled to keep up.

Grants Pass tallied eight hits in a 7-1 win in game one and then had 12 in the nightcap for a 10-3 victory. The Doc’s managed just 11 hits total and struck out 18 times in the two games.

It was a tough night for the Doc’s, who fell to 5-7 in league games, but there were a few bright spots. Cody Gray launched two home runs in the second game to drive in all three Doc Stewart’s runs. Also, Luke Lucido stretched his team-high hitting streak to 11 games.

The Doc’s will try to bounce back as the team heads to California for a tournament in Fairfield. Roseburg will play at least five games in the 10-team tourney, beginning Wednesday night with the host team, the Fairfield Expos.

The Doc’s and Expos square off at 7 p.m. CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score is traveling with the team to cover the games on the radio and hopefully with video online at 541radio.com.

Pregame coverage of Wednesday’s game starts at 6:45 p.m. Tournament coverage is presented by B&D Meats in Winston and Roseburg Disposal.
