On Thursday, the Oregonian/Oregonlive published a report that Oregon State junior pitcher Luke Heimlich is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty in 2012 to a felony charge of child molestation. Heimlich admitted to sexually abusing a relative over a time span when she was 4-6 years old and he was a teenager. The incident happened in his home state of Washington.
One of the many questions surrounding this discovery is whether or not Heimlich will pitch this weekend when Oregon State takes on Vanderbilt in the Corvallis Super Regional? Heimlich is the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year and owns the lowest ERA in the nation. Coach Pat Casey did not confirm whether or not Heimlich will pitch this weekend when he met with the media on Thursday, but he didn’t seem to rule out the possibility.
