It’s the final week of the high school sports season and two Umpqua Basin teams are hoping to make it to the final game of the year.

The Glide baseball team and North Douglas softball team will both play Tuesday for a berth in their respective state championship games coming up this weekend.

Glide squares off against Mountain Valley Conference rival Pleasant Hill in the 3A baseball semifinals. The Wildcats are coming off their upset win over Dayton in the quarterfinals, but will face a team that has had their number most of the year. Glide split a series with Pleasant Hill during the regular season, but lost a league playoff game after the two sides finished tied for first place.

Glide is hosting Tuesday’s semifinal game and will try to get back to the title game for the first time since they finished runner-up in 2015. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

North Douglas softball advanced to the 2A/1A semifinals with a 7-4 win over Central Linn last Friday. Now the Lady Warriors must get through top-seed Kennedy to reach the championship game for only the third time in school history. The Lady Warriors last made the title game in 2003.

North Douglas visits Kennedy at 5 p.m.
