KEIZER, Ore. – Cadyn Grenier and Trevor Larnach homered and Michael Gretler and Steven Kwan each doubled and tripled to pace top-ranked Oregon State to a 7-1 win over Portland in front of 3,906 Tuesday night at Volcanoes Stadium.

Jack Anderson added two hits and RBI in for the Beavers, who ran their win streak to nine games, improving to 42-4 on the year. Grenier, Gretler, Larnach, Kwan and Salem-native Andy Armstrong all had two hits as well to help pace an OSU offense that recorded 13 hits on the night.

Anderson singled in runs in the third and fifth innings – his first RBI pushed the Beavers ahead for good. Oregon State opened its scoring in the second when Andy Armstrong singled up the middle, bringing in Trevor Larnach.

Seven of Oregon State’s 13 hits went for extra bases. That included the home runs by Grenier and Larnach in the fifth. Grenier’s, a solo shot, was his fifth of the season, while Larnach’s, his second of the year, drove in two.

Jake Mulholland worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, holding the Pilots to one walk with a strikeout. He earned the win, improving to 6-1.

Jordan Britton started, allowing one run in 4 2/3 innings. The sophomore struck out four but did not go the minimum five innings for a win.

The loss was charged to Portland starter Tate Budnick, who allowed seven hits and four runs in four innings. He dropped to 1-9 on the year.

Win Streak
The victory marked Oregon State’s ninth consecutive, which, after Louisville’s loss to Indiana, pushes the Beavers to the second-longest active streak in the nation. Louisville had the longest streak at 15 games. Southern Miss, now at 11 straight games after defeating Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, has won 11 consecutive.

Two In The Same Inning, Again
The Beavers went more than two years without hitting two home runs in the same inning, until Adley Rutschman and Michael Gretler in the series opener against Oregon. Then, it took less than a week for it to happen again when Cadyn Grenier and Trevor Larnach each went deep in the fifth inning on Tuesday night against the Pilots.

Another Non-Con Win
Tuesday night’s victory gave Oregon State 18 non-conference wins this season. The Beavers have won 13 consecutive non-conference wins.

Starters
Andy Armstrong made his first start at second base since Feb. 24, while Michael Gretler opened the game behind the plate for the first time since April 8 against Utah. Zak Taylor picked up the start at first, his first since April 7, and Elliott Cary started in center for the first time since April 29. Cadyn Grenier, meanwhile, became the first batter other than Nick Madrigal since opening day when Steven Kwan was in the top slot.
