ROSEBURG – The Roseburg girl’s tennis team won the Southwest Conference tennis championship at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center Saturday.
The tournament finals were all Roseburg. Unseeded freshman Sam Eichman won the singles title by upsetting No. 2 seed Adrienne Powell, Roseburg’s top singles player. Then the doubles team of Megan Danielson and Bailey Norlin-Pritchard defeated teammates Steffi Early and Ally Sandfort to give Roseburg the doubles title as well.
Both Eichman and Powell, along with both of Roseburg’s doubles teams, have qualified for the state tournament, which begins Friday at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
Joining the girls at state will be a two of Roseburg’s boy’s doubles teams. Lucas Ball and Ethan Smith won the district doubles title on Saturday and will be the fourth seed in the state tournament. Isaac Beery and Michael Bober finished third at districts and also qualified for state.
