ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team hosts the Sheldon Irish for a doubleheader Friday afternoon with a chance to clinch a postseason berth on the line. The Indians are currently in second place in the Southwest Conference and two wins against the Irish would secure no worse than a fourth place finish. The top four teams in the Southwest Conference automatically advance to the first round of the state playoffs.
Roseburg and Sheldon begin their twin bill at 2 p.m. at Stewart Park.
First place is on the line when South Umpqua softball hosts Douglas for a Far West League doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Lancers defeated Douglas on Tuesday this week to move into a tie for first in the Far West. If either team is able to sweep the series, they would take control of the race for the league title.
Game one of the series begins at 3 p.m. in Myrtle Creek.
