ROSEBURG – Former NFL quarterback and Oregon gridiron great Joey Harrington will visit Joseph Lane Middle School on Friday, May 12th as a part of a field day event focusing on physical fitness and nutrition.

JoLane is one of five winning schools from a nation-wide contest co-sponsored by Dannon Danimals, a children’s yogurt brand, and Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school wellness program. Dannon and Play 60 will host a field day at JoLane from 9 a.m. to noon and offer fun physical activities and drills for all students, along with nutrition information and Dannon samples.

Harrington will be on hand to run through sports drills with the students and he will present JoLane with a check for $6,000 to support health and wellness efforts.

Harrington was drafted third overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2002 NFL draft. He spent six years in the NFL and passed for over 14,000 yards and tallied 79 touchdowns.
