ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team edged out South Medford 8-7 on Tuesday to move into sole possession of second place in the Southwest Conference.

The Indians blew a 6-run lead and had to score twice in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win. Jordan Gibson tied the game with a bases-loaded walk that scored Marinda Carlyle, who led off the seventh with a triple. Sammie Bergmann later hit a grounder to shortstop that was misplayed, allowing the game-winning run to score.

The win gives Roseburg the series win and head-to-head tiebreaker against South Medford. The Indians are now 9-4 in conference play and trail first place North Medford by two games with five left to play.
