ROSEBURG – After over a week off due to weather delays, the Roseburg baseball team got back to action with a 5-0 victory over the visiting Grants Pass Cavemen on Monday.

Roseburg’s Zack Mandera scattered five hits over seven innings and didn’t allow a run to pick up the complete game victory. The sophomore struck out six and walked one, while picking up his fifth win of the year.

The Indians played opportunistic baseball and took advantage of 10 walks issued by Grants Pass pitchers. Cavemen starter Tyler Rund lasted only 1 1/3 innings and gave up five walks and hit one batter. The Indians struck early, scoring two runs off of Rund in the first inning on one hit and a throwing error.

Cade King took over for Rund in the second inning with the score already 3-0 in favor of the Indians. Roseburg added two more runs off of King in the fourth inning. Treven Jacks brought home the first on a sacrifice fly and a bases loaded walk to Cody Johnson scored Roseburg’s final run of the game.

Freshman Spencer Six went 2-for-2 in the game and drew two walks to reach base in all four plate appearances. Junior Luke Lucido went 1-for-2 in the contest to extend his team-high hitting streak to 14 games.

The Indians moved into a tie with South Medford for third place in the Southwest Conference standings. The two sides square off on Tuesday in Medford. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Follow the action on CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score or watch the game online at 541radio.com. Pregame coverage begins at 4:15 p.m.
