COQUILLE, ORE. –  Glide sophomore Dillon Towne highlighted the Wildcats’ performance at a track and field meet in Coquille on Wednesday.

Towne continued his season-long dominance of the shot put and discus. He placed first in the shot put with his second best throw of the season. The mark of 46 feet, 11 inches beat the next closest competitor by over five feet. Towne has now won four shot put events this season and placed second in three others.

In the discus, Towne again won by a comfortable margin. His throw of 139 fee, 4 inches was over eight feet better than the second place finisher and it was Towne’s second best throw of the year. The sophomore has now won all seven discus competitions he has entered and has the seventh best throw in the state at any level.

Sophomore Kaylee Hendron was the only Glide girl to win an event. She won the discus with a throw of 109 feet, 7 inches.

Up next, the Glide track and field teams will compete in the South Umpqua Twilight on Friday.
