GRANTS PASS – The Roseburg softball team managed just four hits against Grants Pass and fell 5-1 to end a three-game winning streak on Tuesday. The Indians scored their only run on a solo home run by Maria Bacigalupo in the third inning. Grants Pass took a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run by Devin Ireland and led the entire contest.
Up next for the RHS girls is a scheduled home game against South Medford on Tuesday, May 2.
MYRTLE CREEK – The South Umpqua softball team demolished Siuslaw 19-1 on Tuesday behind two home runs and six RBI from freshman Shalyn Gray. The Lady Lancers also got a homer and four RBI from sophomore Aaliyah Rudy. The 19 runs were the most South Umpqua has scored in a single game this season.
The Lady Lancers are 13-2 on the season, but 5-2 in Far West League games. South Umpqua has been one of the top teams in the OSAA rankings all year long, but trails Douglas for first place in the Far West. The Trojans are 5-0 in league play, but only 6-6 overall. They have yet to face South Umpqua in league this year.
SUTHERLIN – The Sutherlin softball team trailed Sisters by three runs going to the bottom of the sixth inning, but a three-run blast from Bailey Westrom kick-started the Bulldogs’ offense on the way to a 10-6 comeback victory Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs scored nine runs total in the sixth inning. Sutherlin now trails third place Sweet Home by half a game.
ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boy’s tennis team defeated Willamette 7-1 in a Southwest Conference dual meet on Tuesday. The Indians won four of five contested matches and took victories in three others by forfeit. Up next, the Indians compete in a two-day tournament at North Medford High School on Friday and Saturday.
ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys lacrosse team picked up 6-3 win over league opponent Thurston on Tuesday. The Indians remain tied for first in the Southwest Conference with the Sheldon Irish. Up next, the RHS boys visit Marist for a league contest on Tuesday.
TOKATEE GOLF CLUB – The Roseburg boys golf team finished in a three-way tie for third in a Southwest Conference tournament at Tokatee Golf Club on Tuesday. Senior Cole Dittmore shot a 75 to finish fifth and freshman Bryce Thomason shot an 80 to place 8th in the competition. The pair led the Indians to a team score of 331, which equaled Willamette and South Medford. Sheldon won the tournament with a team score of 317.
