ROSEBURG – A five run second inning gave Sheldon all the offense it needed, but the Irish added plenty more as they won a Southwest Conference contest 11-3 against Roseburg on Saturday.

The Tribe took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out single by Luke Lucido. The base knock extended the junior’s team-best hit streak to 11 games.

Roseburg’s lead was short lived. The Irish sent nine hitters to the plate in the second inning against Indians’ starter Josh Alexander. Sheldon blew the game open on a double by Sam Olsson to score three runs and give the Irish a 5-1 advantage.

Sheldon (8-4; 5-2 SWC) added four more runs on five hits and a Roseburg (9-7; 5-4 SWC) error in the fifth. The Indians finished the game with three errors and allowed five unearned runs.

The Irish were led by Zach Diehl, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Sam Olsson also had a big day at the plate, notching a triple and a double.

Up next, the Roseburg Indians will host the South Eugene Axemen for a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one is scheduled for 11 a.m. Pregame coverage begins at 10:45 a.m. on 1490 The Score and online at 541radio.com.
