ROSEBURG – The Umpqua Community College Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Amanda Phillips and Christopher “CJ” Kozlowski as Co-Head Coaches for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country on Thursday.

Phillips has been coaching cross country and track & field at Roseburg High School for the past five years. She’s been a life-long runner and competed collegiality at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Phillips earned All-American honors with the Pioneers and holds numerous school records.

Kozlowski joins UCC from Gillette College in Gillette, Wyoming, where he spent nine years as the head coach of track and cross country teams.  Kozlowski’s teams finished in the top five nationally 13 times, including winning the 2015 NJCAA Women’s Half Marathon National Championship. The native of Syracuse, NY was also a college distance runner. Kozlowski was a two-time academic all-conference runner for the Limestone College Saints.

Cross country will begin competition at Umpqua Community College in the fall of 2017.
