GRANTS PASS – The No. 1 ranked South Umpqua softball team defeated North Valley 13-3 in six innings on Tuesday to win its eighth straight game and stay undefeated on the season.
Sophomore Tayah Kelley went 2-for-4 and scored three runs to lead the Lady Lancers offensively. South Umpqua had eight of its nine batters record a hit in the game and the Lancers tallied 14 hits total. The top four in the lineup did a majority of the damage, collecting 10 hits total. Kalie Mann and Shalyn Gray each recorded three hits.
Kelley also pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs on five hits. She recorded 12 strikeouts and walked two.
Up next, the South Umpqua ladies begin Far West League play at North Bend on Tuesday.
