GRANTS PASS – The Roseburg baseball team managed just three hits against two Oregon City pitchers in a 7-0 non-league loss at Grants Pass High School.
The Pioneers scored three runs against Roseburg starter Cody Johnson in the second inning. Johnson pitched into the sixth inning and allowed four earned runs on nine hits and one walk. The junior struck out five in his first loss of the season.
Roseburg’s offense was led by Collin Warmouth, Luke Lucido, and Garrett Russell. Each player had one hit. Lucido had a double and Warmouth and Russell each had singles.
Jordan Weijland had three hits to lead Oregon City and Alex Atwood added another two for the Pioneers.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Roseburg (6-4; 2-1 SWC).
The Indians now have over a week off before their next contest. Up next, Roseburg will host the South Medford Panthers for a league doubleheader on Saturday, April 8. It will be the first home games of the season for the Indians.
Game one is scheduled to start at noon. Both games will be broadcast on 1490 The Score and online at 541radio.com.
