EUGENE – Former Roseburg High School standout Meg Jackson was named the Northwest Athletic Conference women’s track and field Player of the Week on Thursday.
Jackson, now a sophomore at Lane Community College, had a career day at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker meet at Linfield College on Saturday, March 4. She set a new personal record by 40 feet in the hammer throw and met the NWAC conference meet qualifying distance on her first throw.
Jackson placed 4th in a field of 23 competitors with a throw of 135 feet, 11 inches. She was the top finisher from a NWAC school and beat the next best community college competitor by nearly 24 feet.
This was the first Player of the Week selection for the track and field season and its the first time Jackson has earned the honor.
