NORTH BEND, ORE. – A 25-point performance by Far West League Player of the Year Tyler Brown was too much for Sutherlin to overcome as the Bulldogs were eliminated from the 4A playoffs by North Bend 60-42 Friday night.

Sutherlin led 12-8 after a quarter, but Brown and 6’7″ senior Tanner Hanneman combined to outscore Sutherlin 25-7 in the second quarter. Hanneman hit four of his five 3-pointers in the period.

Sutherlin never could cut the lead to single digits again.

Sutherlin was led by Marshal Warmouth with 12 points and freshman Mason Gill with 11.

Both teams had 26 rebounds, but the North Bend height advantage caused the Bulldogs a lot of problems getting off good shots.

“We couldn’t stop the big run they had and we started pressing, and when that happens things start to deteriorate,” said coach Willis New. “But I’m very proud of these guys, they’ve come such a long way.”

Sutherlin finished the season 17-9 with a third place finish in the Sky-Em League and a win in a play-in game.

North Bend (20-4) the Far West League champions, advances to the state tournament in Forest Grove next Wednesday.
