BAKER CITY, ORE. – For 29 minutes, the North Douglas and Adrian girls basketball teams were locked in a tight battle for a berth in the 1A state semifinals. But the Lady Warriors went stone cold in the final moments, allowing the Antelopes to run away with a 46-33 upset win in a quarterfinal game Thursday.

The Warriors and Antelopes went back-and-forth through the first three quarters. The score was tied five times and neither team led by more than six.

The game was still close midway through the fourth quarter. North Douglas trailed 35-33 with 3:06 left to play, but the Lady Warriors went ice cold. Adrian held North Douglas scoreless the rest of the game and reeled-off 13 straight points to pull away for the victory.

North Douglas got off only two shots over the final three minutes and committed five turnovers.

Kalli Frieze scored a game-high 14 points to lead North Douglas. She was the only player to reach double figures in the game.

Adrian was led by Shyanne Allaire, who finished with nine points. The Antelopes had nine of its 10 players score.
