A Sutherlin girls basketball tradition continued this year as senior Taylor Stricklin was named the Sky-Em League Player of the Year, marking the sixth-consecutive season that the Lady Bulldogs have had a player earn the award.

The Bulldogs won their sixth-consecutive league title this season behind the leadership of Stricklin, who was a first team All-League player last year. Sutherlin has now won the Sky-Em League title in all three years since joining the league before the 2014-15 season. The Bulldogs also claimed the Far West League title from 2012-2014.

Stricklin, who will continue playing basketball at Umpqua Community College next year, was joined on the All-League list by four teammates. Junior Harlee Baker and freshman Kiersten Haines were both first team selections. Senior Eliza Sorenson was a second team selection and junior Kiersten Porter made the Honorable Mention list.

The Sutherlin girls face the Douglas Trojans in the first round of the 4A state playoffs on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Sutherlin boys basketball team had two seniors make the Sky-Em League first team after placing third in the standings. Marshal Warmouth and Bowen Briggs were voted to the first team. Freshman Mason Gill was the only other All-League selection for the Bulldogs. He was voted to the second team. 2017-Sky-Em-All-League-Girls-Basketball
