The race for the Far West League championship came down to the final game of the regular season for the Douglas and Marshfield girls. So, it’s no wonder that the Trojans and Pirates would split the league’s top honors.

Douglas senior Darian Mitchell and Marshfield sophomore Tess Garrett were voted the co-Most Valuable Players for the Far West League this season. Garrett scored 18 points to lead Marshfield in that pseudo-league championship game on Feb. 17. Mitchell led Douglas with a double-double, scoring 16 points and hauling in 10 rebounds.

Douglas had three more players make the All-League list and South Umpqua landed two players on the Honorable Mention list.

The Trojans and Lancers each had a player make the boy’s All-League first team. Douglas junior Quinden Parson earned his second All-League honor after being an Honorable Mention selection last year. South Umpqua senior Cody Gray was voted to the All-League first team for a second consecutive season.
