ROSEBURG – The Roseburg girls basketball team suffered through a difficult league season that included a nine-game losing streak and finished with a 2-10 record. Yet, the Roseburg girls have gotten their shot to continue the year as they will host the Tualatin Timberwolves in a 6A play-in game on Saturday.

The Indians finished the regular season ranked No. 32 by the OSAA, which puts Roseburg in a group of eight teams that will battle for a spot in the 32-team playoff bracket. The winner of Saturday’s play-in game will advance to the first round against one of the top four teams in the state.

Roseburg went 9-14 overall this year, with most of its wins coming in the non-conference portion of the season. The Indians beat three teams that are already qualified for the state playoffs, but those all came before top scorer Amaya Goings was sent to the sideline with a long-term injury.

Tualatin went 8-15 overall this season and finished seventh in the nine-team Three Rivers League. The Timberwolves won six games in a league that has eight teams in the post season.

The Roseburg and Tualatin girls will tipoff at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Cost of admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students. No passes apply.

The game will be broadcast on the radio and web. Listen to the game on 1490 The Score or watch the contest online at 541radio.com. Pregame starts at 3:45pm.
