NORTH BEND, ORE. – The Days Creek boys basketball team rallied from an early 15-point deficit to defeat North Douglas 50-44 on Saturday and earn the Skyline League tournament championship.
The Warriors had pulled ahead 22-7 in the first quarter, but the Wolves battled back to take a lead early in the fourth quarter. Colton Fuller scored 13 points to lead Days Creek. North Douglas got 15 from Jayce Ellis.
The victory gives Days Creek the top seed out of the Skyline League and a first round bye in the 1A state playoffs. North Douglas will host Chiloquin in the first round on Tuesday.
The North Douglas girls routed New Hope Christian 56-22 on Saturday to win the Skyline League girl’s tournament title. Kallie Frieze scored 15 to lead the Lady Warriors. North Douglas gets a first round bye in the 1A state playoffs.
The Elkton girls fought off Days Creek 62-38 to earn the third playoff berth out of the Skyline League. The Lady Elks will play on the road in the first round against Alsea. The game is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The Oakland boys and girls both reached the first round of the 2A state playoffs. The boys finished as the three-seed in the Mountain View Conference after defeating Riddle 70-51 on Saturday. The Oakers will travel to Stanfield for a first round match on Friday.
The Oakland girls finished second in the Mountain View Conference after losing to Monroe 56-32 in the championship game. The Lady Oakers will have to travel to East Linn Christian for a first round contest on Saturday.
