SUTHERLIN – The Sutherlin boys basketball team jumped out on Sweet Home 12-4 in the first quarter and continually pulled away for a 53-33 victory over the last place Huskies to finish the Sky-Em League season with a 7-3 mark and a third place finish.

The Bulldogs got nine of Marshal Warmouth’s game-high 20 points in the first quarter and led by eight at end of one. Sutherlin had the lead up to 15 by halftime and the Huskies could never close the gap.

Warmouth was the only Bulldog in double figures, but the two freshmen, Brandon Carr and Mason Gill, both had eight and Bowen Briggs added seven in the balanced attack.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 16-7 mark and third in the conference, but because of their #10 ranking, they will be in the playoffs next Friday. They just don’t know where and who the opponent will be yet.

Sisters and Cottage Grove tied for the league title and will play off next week to determine who gets the number one seed from the conference.
