UMPQUA BASIN – The Roseburg boys and girls swimming teams are headed to Springfield Friday for the Southwest Conference district meet. The Roseburg boys are defending their team title from last year. The meet is being held at Willamalane Friday and Saturday. Friday’s portion starts at 4:45 p.m.

The 4A Special District 3 wrestling meet begins Friday at noon at South Umpqua High School. Twelve teams from the Far West League, including the Lancers and Douglas, and the Skyline League will compete to send wrestlers to state. The top five finishers from each weight class will advance. The meet continues on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The cheerleading state championship competition gets underway on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland. The Roseburg Indians will compete in the co-ed small division, while Glide and Oakland compete in the 3A/2A/1A classification. Performances start as early as 9 a.m.
