WINCHESTER – For a fourth time this season, an Umpqua women’s basketball player has been named the Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week, but for the first time it’s not Jordan Stotler.
Freshman forward Daisy Powell was selected as the conference Player of the Week Tuesday after averaging 25.5 points per game on 61% shooting last week. Powell added 13 rebounds per game, two steals and three blocks to her stat line. Her efforts helped lead the No. 1 Lady Riverhawks to two wins last week.
Powell was a critical part of Umpqua’s 91-64 domination of the Clark Penguins on Saturday. She matched a season-high with 32 points, leading the way in the absence of UCC’s leading scorer Jordan Stotler.
The 6′ 3″ Oakland, California native currently ranks top 10 in the NWAC in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage. This is her first Player of the Week award this season.
