VANCOUVER, WASH. – The No. 1 ranked Umpqua women’s basketball team stretched its winning streak to eight games with a 91-64 victory over the Clark Penguins on Saturday in Vancouver.

Playing without leading scorer Jordan Stotler, the Riverhawks relied on their depth to cruise to the victory. Stotler sat out with concussion-like symptoms sustained in a previous game last Wednesday.

In Stotler’s absence, fellow post player Daisy Powell tied a season-high with 32 points. Powell finished with a double-double, adding 15 rebounds.

Tasia Bilbrew contributed 20 points and four assists for the Riverhawks.

The No. 8 ranked Umpqua men saw their winning streak come to an end with a 92-82 loss to the Penguins on Saturday.

Grant Ellison scored a game-high 31 points, but the Riverhawks couldn’t overcome a 45-36 halftime deficit.

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for UCC. The Riverhawks still have a strong hold on first place in their league, but four teams are within 1.5 games of the top spot.

The Umpqua men and women have a busy week in front of them. Both squads take the floor Monday night against Portland for make-up games that were postponed due to the snow storms that hit the region in January. The Riverhawks also have regularly scheduled games on Wednesday and Saturday.

The UCC women tipoff against Portland at home at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The men’s game follows at 7:30 p.m.
