WINCHESTER – Umpqua Community College freshman Grant Ellison was named the NW Athletic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week on Monday after helping guide the No. 8 Riverhawks to a 122-116 victory over Chemeketa last week.

Ellison turned in a season-best performance with 31 points on 71% shooting from the field, along with 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line, five assists and four rebounds.

This is the first Player of the Week award for Ellison and the first this season for an Umpqua men’s basketball player.

The UCC men and women get back to action on Wednesday with a visit to SW Oregon Community College.
