ALBANY, ORE. – Roseburg sophomore Collin Warmouth scored a game-high 22 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Indians suffered a 72-58 loss to West Albany on Friday night.

The Bulldogs used a 9-0 run to close out the first half to pull ahead of Roseburg 27-18. The gap proved to be more than the Indians could manage to overcome in the second half. Roseburg rallied to within three points, but West Albany fought back to stretch the lead to as much as 17-points in the fourth quarter.

Neither team started the game with much offensive flow. West Albany led 4-0 before Roseburg got on the board with just over 2.5 minutes left to go in the first period. The Indians tied the game at 4-4 on a pair of free throws by Jack Christner and the score remained the same going to the second quarter.

The teams traded buckets through much of the second period, but the Bulldogs shut the Indians down over the final 2:15 of the first half. John Crince hit a lay-in to tie the score at 18-18 and Roseburg was held scoreless the rest of the half.

Roseburg (4-14; 1-4 SWC) started the second half on an 11-5 run over the first three minutes to get back within three points, but that’s as close as the Indians would get. West Albany (4-13; 2-7 GVC) responded with an 11-0 run to regain a comfortable margin.

Three players finished in double figures for West Albany. Robby Elliott hit five 3-pointers for 15 points, Trent Dutcher went 4-for-4 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the line for 15, and Oreon Courtney scored 11 in the fourth quarter to finish with 15 points.

Warmouth made three 3-pointers and scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half. Matt Stone added 12 points for Roseburg before fouling out and Luke Lucido chipped in 11.

The Indians have now lost three straight. The team gets back to league play next week with a road game at Grants Pass on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
