ROSEBURG – The league season is nearing its midway point for the Roseburg basketball teams and both the boys and girls have some work to do to try and stay in the chase for the post season.

Both teams are 1-3 in conference play and currently sit in fifth place. Only the top four teams from the Southwest Conference earn automatic playoff spots, so, while there’s still lots of games left to play, there’s no time to waste.

The Indians take on North Medford on Tuesday. The RHS boys host the Black Tornados, who are currently in first place and ranked third by the OSAA. Roseburg is coming off its near upset win over South Eugene, but will need to bring its “A” game to hang with the second best offense in the conference.

The Roseburg and North Medford boys tipoff at 6:45 p.m. at Roseburg High School. Tune in to hear the game on 1490 The Score or watch the contest online at 541radio.com.

The Roseburg girls are also coming off a narrow defeat at the hands of South Eugene. The girls lost by three against the Lady Axers last Friday, but will try to turn the page Tuesday and secure a road upset against North Medford.

Elsewhere, first place is on the line in the Sky-Em League Tuesday night. The Sutherlin Bulldogs host Cottage Grove and both the boys and girls match-ups will feature first place teams. In the boy’s game, Cottage Grove holds a one-game lead over Sutherlin for the league lead, while the girl’s game features the Sutherlin girls, who are undefeated in league play.
