MEDFORD – A 10-point fourth quarter by Roseburg junior Cody Johnson and a second consecutive game with 24 points for sophomore Collin Warmouth helped lead the Roseburg boys basketball team to a 62-54 win over South Medford on Tuesday night.

The win was the first in Southwest Conference play for the Indians. Sophomore Jonathan Stone added nine points for the Tribe and Luke Lucido had seven.

The teams traded the lead back-and-forth, with neither team leading by more than five until the final few minutes of the game. South Medford’s Kaleb Franklin hit a driving lay-in to tie the game at 50 with 5:20 left to play in the contest, but Roseburg retook the lead about a minute later and never gave it back.

Johnson drained a hook shot to give the Indians a 52-50 lead with just over four minutes to go and the Indians finished the game on a 12-4 run for the victory. Johnson finished with 15 points in the game, just three shy of his season best.

For a second straight game, Collin Warmouth scored 24 points. He also had 24 against Willamette last Friday, which set a new mark for his season high.

Roseburg (4-10; 1-2 SWC) had a strong offensive night, shooting 22-of-41 from the floor (53.6 percent) and 15-of-18 from the free throw line (83.3 percent). The Indians also shot well from behind the arch, making 5-of-11 (45. percent). South Medford (5-10; 0-4 SWC) made just 20-of-51 from the floor (39.2 percent).

Up next, the Roseburg boys will play their first conference home game of the season. The Indians host South Eugene on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
