SUTHERLIN – The Sutherlin boys basketball team had a 12 point lead over Brookings going into the fourth quarter Friday night, but let it slip away.
The Bruins came storming back to tie the game at 45, on the shoulders of Brig Schofield who scored 10 points in the fourth quarter rally, with two three-pointers. Then Schofield scored six more in the overtime, leading the Bruins to a 57-52 victory over the Bulldogs at Sutherlin High School.
Schofield finished with a game-high 20 for Brookings.
Sutherlin was led by freshman Brandon Carr with 17 including a pair of three-pointers, and Marshal Warmouth added 14, also with two three-pointers. Albert Christianson and Mason Gill each added nine for the Bulldogs
Sutherlin fell to 9-4 while Brookings improved to 6-6.
The Bulldogs host North Bend Tuesday night at 5:30 in their final non-league game before Sky-Em League play begins on Friday when they travel to Junction City.
