MYRTLE CREEK – After a second place finish in the Far West League and a run to the state quarterfinals, the South Umpqua Lancers landed three players on the 4A All-State team, announced Wednesday by the Oregonian.

Leading the selections was senior linebacker Cody Gray, who was voted a 1st team All-State defender. The honor follows Gray’s selection as the Far West League Defensive Player of the Year award winner. The three-sport athlete previously earned honorable mention All-State honors as a tight end after his junior season in 2015.

Two fellow Lancers joined Gray on the All-State selections, earning honorable mention status. Senior Bailey Johnson was selected on the offensive line and junior Taylor Gross was picked at wide receiver. Both players were first team FWL selections.
