coach_taggart_willieEUGENE – After more than a week of searching for its next head football coach, the University of Oregon appears to have found its guy. On Wednesday morning, a number sports outlets have reported that Willie Taggart from South Florida will be the Ducks’ next head coach.

Bruce Feldman from Fox Sports appears to be the first to have reported the breaking news. Others, such as ESPN.com and the Oregonian have also claimed to have confirmed the reports. The university has not made an official statement as of yet.

Taggart led the USF to a 10-2 record this season in the American Athletic Conference. He took over the program in 2013 and went 2-10 in his first season, but quickly got the program on the up swing. The Bulls made a bowl game for the first time since 2010 in Taggart’s third year as head coach.

In his career as a head coach, Taggart has an overall record of 40-45. Prior to coaching at USF Taggart was the head coach of his alma mater, Western Kentucky.
