WINSTON – Douglas senior Darian Mitchell earned plenty of post season accolades after helping lead the Lady Trojans volleyball team to a share of the Far West League title this season. Now she’s got another award for the mantle.

On Monday, the Oregonian announced the 4A All-State volleyball team and Mitchell earned second team recognition. She helped guide Douglas to the first round of the playoffs, where the Trojans were knocked out by Baker High School.

The senior was the only player from the Umpqua Basin to make an All-State team in the 4A, 5A, and 6A classifications.

Mitchell was also voted the co-Far West League Player of the Year this season for her performance on the court. She is now hoping to lead the Douglas girls basketball team to success during the winter sports season.
