TULSA, OKLA. – The Oregon State men’s basketball team tried to snap a two-game losing streak, but dug themselves too deep a hole to climb out of in the first half against Tulsa on Tuesday.

The Beavers trailed 37-22 after the first half, but rallied to make things close in the second half. Ultimately, OSU didn’t have enough in the tank to overtake the Golden Hurricanes in a 77-64 loss. It’s Oregon State’s third straight loss after starting the year 2-0.

Oregon State got to within one midway through the second half, as the Beavers got out to a 17-3 run after the break. But Tulsa responded with a 7-0 run to regain control. The Beavers never got closer than four points the rest of the way.

Tres Tinkle led Oregon State with 19 points and JaQuori McLaughlin had 12 points and five rebounds. The Beavers once again played without guard Stephen Thompson Jr. who is dealing with a left leg injury.

The Beavers now return home for a game against Fresno State on Friday.
