LAHAINA, HAWAII – The Oregon men’s basketball team avoided a second consecutive loss at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational by outlasting Tennessee in overtime for a 69-65 victory Tuesday afternoon.

The Ducks jumped out a lead early in the first half, but the Volunteers rallied to pull ahead late in the half. Both teams held 8-point advantages in the first half, but Oregon finished the half on a 9-1 run to go to the break tied at 32.

Oregon started the second half hot and went on a 13-2 run to build another double-digit advantage. While the Ducks never trailed in the second half, their offense went cold and Tennessee fought back and tied the game at 56 on a free throw with only 30-seconds remaining.

Dillon Brooks had a chance to win the game in regulation, but missed a shot at the buzzer. In overtime, Casey Benson scored 5 points to lead Oregon to the victory.

Brooks saw his most minutes of the season in just his second game back for Oregon. He led the Ducks with 17 points. Chris Boucher had 11 points, five blocks and four rebounds before fouling out in overtime.

The Ducks will now play for fifth place in the tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oregon will face the winner of UCONN and Chaminade.
