oregon_mbbThe Oregon men’s basketball team moved up to its highest ranking in program history on Monday. The Ducks jumped up one spot to No. 4 in the latest Associated Press rankings. The new rankings came out just before Oregon plays its biggest contest to date.

The Ducks finish off a home-and-home series with the Baylor Bears on Tuesday afternoon. Oregon is the decided favorite in the match-up, which is a different scenario then when the teams met nearly a year ago. Baylor was the higher ranked team and the Ducks were the ones gunning for the upset. The roles have switched this time around and the target is squarely on Oregon’s back.

Oregon and Baylor tipoff at 12:30 p.m. from Waco, TX.

The Oregon State men’s basketball team is out to a 2-0 start after a gritty win over Texas-San Antonio on Sunday. Sophomore Tres Tinkle led the way for the Beavers with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Tinkle has gotten out to a hot start, which has earned him the first Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week award this season.

The 6-8 forward has averaged 23.0 points and 13.5 rebounds through two games. He has recorded a double-double in each of Oregon State’s two wins.

Tinkle is the first Oregon State player to earn the league’s weekly honor since Gary Payton II on Jan. 26, 2015.

Oregon State wraps up a three-game home stand with a contest against Lamar on Wednesday.

And back to the polls, where the Oregon State women moved up one spot to No. 24 in the latest Associated Press poll released on Monday.  In the first week of the season, the Beavers blew out Lamar 88-56 in the season opener last Friday and then topped Idaho State 61-38 Monday night. The win against the Vandals came after the new poll was released. OSU next hosts Portland on Friday night.
