REDMOND – The No. 2 ranked North Douglas volleyball team is one step closer to winning a state championship after defeating Crane 3-1 in the 1A state quarterfinals Friday morning at Redmond High School.
The Lady Warriors got out to a slow start and lost the opening set 25-21, but rallied back to beat the Mustangs 25-20; 25-13; 25-16.
North Douglas advances to the 1A state semifinals, where the Warriors will face Adrian. The Antelopes defeated Arlington in five sets to move on in the playoffs. The semifinal contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The Days Creek Wolves fell into the consolation bracket after losing to top-ranked Country Christian 3-1 in the quarterfinals Friday morning. The Wolves challenged the Cougars and managed to win the opening set 25-23, but went on to drop the final three sets 25-15; 26-24, 25-20.
Days Creek will play an elimination match against Hosanna Christian on Saturday at 10 a.m. The winner advances to the fourth place game Saturday afternoon, while the loser is done for the year.
