GLADSTONE – It was a struggle offensively for the Sutherlin girls soccer team Tuesday as the Lady Bulldogs saw their season come to an end with a 2-0 loss against Gladstone in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

Gladstone took a 1-0 lead early in the first half and continued to hold that lead going to the break. Maybe more importantly, the Gladiators held Sutherlin without a shot on goal throughout the first half.

Gladstone’s defense continued to hold the Bulldogs in check through the second half. Meanwhile, the Gladiators offense scored the clincher with 12 minutes left to play. Sutherlin managed just one shot on goal compared to 21 for Gladstone.

Sutherlin ends its season with a 9-4-2 record. Gladstone advances to the quarterfinals to face Cascade on Saturday.
