justin_herbertEUGENE – The spectacular start to the young career of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert notched another memorable moment on Monday when the true freshman was named the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Herbert became the first Oregon football player to account for more than 500 yards of offense on Saturday. Making just his third start for the Ducks, Herbert threw for 489 yards, tying Bill Musgrave for the most passing yards in one game, and ran for 23. His 512 yards of total offense is the most that any one player has accumulated in Oregon history.

His record-setting performance in Oregon’s 54-35 win over Arizona State earned Herbert his first Pac-12 weekly award. He is just the second Oregon player to win a conference award this season. Troy Dye, another true freshman at Oregon, won the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week award during the first week of the season.

• Herbert tied the Oregon single-game individual record with 489 passing yards while completing 31 of 42 passes for four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Ducks’ 54-35 win over Arizona State.
• Became the school’s first player to ever accumulate 500 yards of total offense, finishing with 512 in only his third career start.
• Led the Ducks to scoring drives on their first five possessions (TDs on the first two) while throwing for 320 yards (20-24) in the first half.
